The information that a candidate requires for either the written examination or the practical test is contained in the relevant handbook. The handbook is a comprehensive guide that contains the rules, the examination timetable, the syllabus, study notes on the various topics and other advice. A hard copy of the handbook is held on all whole time fire stations. In addition to the hard copy, the handbook can be viewed on line or downloaded to a hard drive or floppy disc from this web site.

The Syllabus and Bibliography for each examination are issued every year and are clearly marked on the front cover with the examination year to which they apply. It is the candidate's responsibility to ensure that they are studying the correct edition.

Important Message for all Station Officers' Candidates
